by Vesica & Overdesign
Hope Voyager is a stunning installation embodying resilience and reimagining possibilities. Inspired by a moment of crisis during Cyclone Gabrielle in Hawke's Bay - a time when flooding paralyzed transportation, this work envisions a new era of freight and logistics, soaring above adversity.
The sculpture takes the form of a sleek and simplistic hot air balloon suspended mid-air. The gondola was crafted from perforated steel, weaving elements of sacred geometry, art nouveau, and early industrial aesthetics. These patterns cast shadows, playing with the interaction of light and dark, creating a dynamic visual experience.
This airship serves as a symbolic beacon of hope, encouraging its viewers to lift their gaze skyward. The defiance of gravity inherent in a hot air balloon imparts a sense of weightlessness, offering solace in the face of disaster.
Hope Voyager aims to elevate spirits, reminding us of the potential for beauty and innovation to rise above the challenges that bind us to the ground.
